In criminal circles she was known as the "queen" of Rolexes. Thanks to her cunning, she was able to intercept the right person, gain their trust and steal their precious watch at the right time. Her victims, all people of a certain age, approached with elegance and a pinch of malice, which in fact put the victim in a difficult situation. At least three cases are contested against her. Thanks to the activity of the Padua Carabinieri, she was identified and rendered harmless. The Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the operational department of the provincial command of Padua, following a complex investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Padua, have acquired serious evidence of guilt against a 30-year-old woman of Romanian origin, with no fixed abode, known to the justice system, in relation to three aggravated thefts committed between the provinces of Padua and Venice, to the detriment of as many elderly victims, from whom, with various kinds of deception, on the public road, the "Rolex" watches they were wearing were stolen.
The activity
The investigative elements acquired by the military of the Arma through the recognitions made by the injured parties, the analysis of the numerous video surveillance systems and the examination of the various devices for detecting the license plates of vehicles in transit, were confirmed in the order of precautionary custody in prison issued by the investigating judge of the court of Padua against the suspect.
The contested facts
On January 26, 2024, in Abano Terme, theft of a “Rolex” watch worth approximately 4 thousand euros, to the detriment of a 75-year-old pensioner, approached in the street with the excuse of a greeting. On March 6, 2024, in Mestre (Venice), theft of a “Rolex” watch worth approximately 8 thousand euros, to the detriment of a 77-year-old man, distracted with the excuse of an invitation to a subsequent meeting. Finally, on March 7, 2024, in Este, theft of a “Rolex” watch worth approximately 10 thousand euros, stolen from a 62-year-old merchant, approached and hugged on the public street with various expedients, which in fact distracted the victim.
The turning point
Despite the constant and detailed searches of the Carabinieri aimed at tracking her down, the suspect initially managed to disappear, until the afternoon of Sunday 19 May when on the Via Aurelia in Ladispoli (Rome), during a traffic check, the woman was identified by personnel from the local police station, then arrested in execution of the precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of Padua and
associated with the Rebibbia prison of Rome, at the disposal of the judicial authority.
